David is from the Reading area. After studying Physiology at Sheffield University, he trained as a Science teacher. Maura was born to missionary parents in Dubai and trained as a nurse in Oxford. After marrying and pursuing their respective careers for a few years they went to Belfast Bible College (1991-1994) and then spent over 10 years in Ethiopia with SIM (Serving in Mission) teaching and discipling. In 2005 they returned to Carey, their sending church, where David now co-ordinates the church’s outreach to the local international community. Two of their children, Alfie and Phoebe are still at home and two, Joshua and Luke are at university. David is a keen Leeds United fan, and Maura isn’t.
